Sir,

I have the honour to refer to my secret

telegram No. 72 of 29th July, 1938, regarding allegations

of the Japanese General Staff as to the British share in

the arms traffic passing through Hong Kong, and to

forward herewith for your information a copy of a police

report compiled by the branch which supervises this traffic,

together with a copy of returns of the exact figures for

the period February to June, 1938, from which will be

seen the inaccuracies to which my telegram referred.
